In general, documentation must be available for inspection and must be valid in terms of content and time. Whether it is a routine inspection or an extraordinary event, all documents must meet validity requirements.
Importance of proper documentation: If the validity period of any required document is exceeded, the aircraft is no longer considered airworthy. This means that in such a situation, the aircraft may not legally conduct flights. This can compromise safety and lead to unplanned groundings, fines, or other legal issues.
Responsibility of the aircraft commander: Failure to comply with these requirements during an inspection or in the event of an incident can cause significant complications for the aircraft commander. The commander is responsible for ensuring that all valid documents are on board and properly maintained. This includes regularly checking the validity of documents and ensuring that all required paperwork is present and up to date before every flight.
Why is this important:
- Safety:Valid documents ensure that the aircraft is airworthy and that all safety requirements for flight operations are met.
- Legal requirements:Incorrect or incomplete documentation can lead to legal problems, fines, or even the cancellation of aviation permits for the aircraft or pilot.
- Efficiency:Having the necessary documents on board ensures smooth flights and a quick response in unforeseen situations. In case of inspection by aviation authorities, providing these documents quickly is crucial.
Documents on board the aircraft:
- Registration certificate
- Certificate of airworthiness
- Airworthiness review certificate (ARC) - validity check
- Noise certificate
- Release to service, maintenance release - validity check
- Permission to establish and operate a radio station - validity check
- Legal insurance - validity check
- Flight manual
- Logbook
- Valid ICAO map
- Visual signals
- Personal documents of the aircraft commander (license, valid medical certificate, photo ID)
- For solo navigation flights by students - pilots: student pilot certificate, flight log with planned route
- Pre-flight inspection checklist
After the flight: It is important to fill out the aircraft status report after the flight, which includes information on fuel, oil, any malfunctions, and other parameters. This report serves as a record of the aircraft's condition and should be kept for future maintenance or inspection.
